TürkAkım Natural Gas Pipeline Comes into Service
As TürkAkım natural gas pipeline come into service, a ceremony was held in Haliç Congress center, Turkish president Erdogan and Russia president Putin, Serbia president Aleksandar Vucic and Bulgaria president Boyko Borisov attended.
In addition, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, Minister of Environment and Urban Planning, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Commerce Ruhsar Pekcan, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun, as well as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Perviz Shahbazov, Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic also attended.
After the entrance of the heads of state and government, the introduction video of TürkAkım Natural Gas Pipeline Project was shown.
In the opening ceremony, President Erdoğan, President of the Russian Federation Putin as well as Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez and Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Aleksander Novak gave a speech.
Following the speeches, Oleg Aksyutin, Vice Chairman of Gazprom at Russkaya Compressor Station, and Burhan Özcan, General Manager of BOTAŞ at Kıyıköy Reception Terminal, were contacted via video conferencing. Aksyutin and Özcan gave information about the project.
As Erdogan, Putin, Vucic and Borisov opening the symbolic valve, the gas supply from to Turkey from TürkAkım has started. During the opening, a natural gas flow animation was shown on the screen.
After the opening, President Erdoğan had a family photo taken with the heads of state and government.
On the other hand, a large number of local and foreign press members attended the ceremony.
The construction process of TürkAkım, which consists of two lines of 935 kilometers each, extending from Anapa, Russia to Kıyıköy, has ended. Russkaya compressor station located in Anapa and Turkey Kiyiköy Exchange Terminal has been completed.
Türk Akım stream line, which will bring the Russian natural gas directly to Turkey, is getting prepared to gas stream by 31 December 2019.
Each line, including 15.75 billion cubic meters, with a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas TürkAkım, the first line with the capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters will supply gas stream to Turkey and the second line with the same capacity the gas will be sent to Europe.
