Natural Gas Imports up 9.8 Percent in February
Turkey’s natural gas imports increased by 9.83 percent to 4.7 billion cubic meters compared to February 2014. The Energy Market Regulation Board (EPDK) announced the Natural Gas Market Sector Report for February. Accordingly, exports that were around 4.2 billion cubic meters increased by 9.83 percent to 4.7 billion cubic meters.
The highest import was from Russia with 2.5 billion cubic meters, followed by 688 million cubic meters from Iran and 536 million cubic meters from Azerbaijan. Liquefied natural gas exports were around 950 million cubic meters in total. At the same time, the natural gas produced and offered for sale decreased by 24.78 percent to 30 million cubic meters.
Tekirdağ was the city that produced the highest amount of natural gas with 20 million cubic meters and Adıyaman was the city that produced the lowest amount of natural gas with just 2,000 cubic meters. Natural gas consumption was around 4.5 million cubic meters last February, but has increased by 7.25 percent to 4.9 billion cubic meters this February.
